Keeping Families Covered

Board Member

Keeping Families Covered (dba Twice As Nice Mother & Child), is a 501(c)3 non-profit, providing help and hope to families in crisis by distributing diapers and other basic needs at no cost. This is possible through agency partnerships as well as direct service; all while raising awareness about diaper need and working to build a sustainable diaper program in Lake County.

As a member of the National Diaper Bank Network, our on-site diaper bank and mobile diaper pantry distributes over 500,000 diapers every year. We also provide other childcare necessities like wipes, infant formula as well as gently used maternity wear, period supplies, children's clothing (newborn to size 12), baby gear and children's books.

Keeping Families Covered supports over 1,000 children every month and has given away over 1.5 million diapers to the most vulnerable residents in our community.

Grayslake Village Board

Trustee

I am humbled and honored to serve our community and its residents as a member of the Grayslake Village Board.

Board Elected Officials for the Village of Grayslake (Trustees) initiate, consider and vote on issues that affect the everyday life of residents, businesses and property owners. These include economic development, public safety, road improvements and property conditions. The village board also addresses any concerns raised by residents.

A trustee is an elected local government official who ensures all areas of their jurisdiction is being maintained and cared for. These individuals additionally have a fiduciary responsibility to make legal financial decisions pertaining to the municipalities budget and bottom line. They organize and determine projects, capital spending decisions, and review all areas of a fully functioning Village or other type of municipality.

Illinois Joining Forces

Woman Veteran Ambassador

Women veterans are an under-represented and under resourced segment of the veteran population. Illinois is home to nearly 50,000 female veterans. This number increases significantly when considering female active duty, Guard & Reserve members. Women veterans often have issues unique from their male counterparts and they often prefer to only discuss their issues with other female veterans.

The purpose of this program is to identify highly-skilled women veterans in each of their respective communities who want to make Illinois the most beneficial state for their sisters in arms to live and thrive in. This will happen with a multi-faceted approach involving advocacy, policy development, and coordination of support and programs at the community level.

IJF identifies and trains strong female veterans in each Veteran Support Community to serve as Ambassadors as advocates for women veterans’ issues at the local, regional, and state level. IJF also coordinates to have Women Veteran Ambassadors trained as peer support specialists so they can provide much needed one-on-one support to their sisters in arms.
